Vassily Ivanchuk is widely regarded as one of the most naturally gifted chess players of all time, with Garry Kasparov placing him in the same category as world champions. A creative genius with an unpredictable universal style, he reached No. 2 in the world rankings three times and won virtually every major tournament, including the World Rapid Championship (2016) and World Blitz Championship (2007). Judit Polgar named him alongside only Carlsen and Anand when asked which players she considered true geniuses.
