Personalised chess gifts made from their own game

Every chess player has a game they still replay in their head. We draw every move of it as one picture, add the title you write, and print it for their wall. You only need their chess.com or Lichess username to find it.

A framed chess game print in a living room

How to make it without asking them

  1. Step 1

    Find their username

It's on their chess.com or Lichess profile, and in the app on their phone. Type it into our import and we list their recent games, newest first, with the result and the opponent.

  2. Step 2

    Pick the game

A win is the safe choice. Look for one against a higher-rated opponent, a long game they fought for, or one from a date that means something. Club and tournament games work too: paste the moves from the scoresheet app or the event website.

  3. Step 3

    Write the title

The print carries a title, a subtitle and a short message. Leave the players' names, or replace them with something only they'll understand.

  4. Step 4

    Choose how it hangs

Poster, black framed print, gallery canvas or metal. Every one is printed to order and posted free, with your gift message on the packing slip.

Titles people choose

The title sits under the artwork in place of the players' names. A few that work well:

  • Dad's First Win
  • Club Champion 2026
  • The Day I Beat Grandad
  • Our First Game
  • Board One, County Final
  • Checkmate in 23

Who it suits

Online players are the easiest: years of their games sit on chess.com or Lichess, and a quick look at their profile shows the wins they were proudest of. Club players often keep scoresheets of league and congress games, and most clubs publish results with the moves.

Children who have just started playing love seeing their own game as a picture. A parent and child who play each other can print one of their games with both names on it, and print another a few years later to see how the picture changes.

If they don't play online at all, a famous game from their favourite player makes a good second choice. Browse the Top 100 or see more chess gift ideas.

Good to know

Do I need their game file?
No. If they play on chess.com or Lichess, their username is enough: we list their recent games and you pick one. For a club or tournament game, paste the moves instead.
Will they know it's coming?
Only if you tell them. Importing their games is read-only, so nothing appears on their account.
Can I see it before I buy?
Yes. The design updates as you change the title and colours, and you can see it framed in a room before you add it to your cart.
Can I add a gift message?
Yes. There's a gift message box at checkout, printed on the packing slip. You can also put a personal title and message on the print itself.
What if it arrives damaged?
We reprint it free. See shipping & returns.
