Samuel Reshevsky (1911-1992) was a Polish-American grandmaster who gained worldwide fame as a chess prodigy, giving simultaneous exhibitions at age eight before immigrating to the United States. He became one of America's greatest champions, winning the US Championship eight times over a 37-year span, known for his tenacious fighting style and deep positional understanding.
