Richard Rapport broke Peter Leko's record to become the youngest Hungarian grandmaster ever at age 13 and has since established himself as one of the most creative players in modern chess. Known for his unconventional opening choices and willingness to play virtually anything on the board, he reached a career-high world No. 5 ranking in 2022. He qualified for the 2022 Candidates Tournament by winning the Belgrade FIDE Grand Prix.
