Najdorf, Miguel

Miguel Najdorf (1910-1997) was a Polish-born Argentine grandmaster and one of the world's elite players throughout the 1940s and 1950s, immortalized through the Najdorf Variation of the Sicilian Defense, one of the most popular and combative openings in chess history. A prolific competitor who defeated every World Champion from Euwe to Fischer, Najdorf also set world records in blindfold simultaneous chess, playing 45 opponents at once in 1947.
