Peter Leko was the first Hungarian prodigy to reach the world elite, becoming a grandmaster at just 14. He challenged Vladimir Kramnik for the Classical World Championship in 2004, drawing the match 7-7 in a tense battle where Kramnik retained his title only by winning the dramatic final game.
